The material should be kept in its tightly closed original bottle and stored in the dark at a temperature between 10 C and 30 C. It should not be exposed to intense sources of electromagnetic radiation. Ideally, the bottle should be kept in a desiccator under the conditions indicated above. Spinach leaves tend to rapidly bleach and turn a tan or light brown color in the presence of visible light. By monitoring SRM 1570, the previous version of this SRM, it was determined that there is no evidence of any change in elemental mass fractions as a result of the color change.
